Andy Hix is CEO of The Mindful Banker, a company that specialises in supporting financial services companies in improving the wellbeing of its staff.

He is a qualified mindfulness trainer who has taught at organisations such as PwC, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Lloyds Bank and Deloitte.

He also teaches in schools, prisons, and offers 1-2-1 coaching, writes a blog and hosts a podcast called The Mindful Banker. His coaching programme, Sustainable Success helps professionals overcome stress, anxiety and burn out so that they can thrive professionally and feel happy and healthy.

At university he became obsessed with saving the world from climate change. He stopped flying and eating meat, ran a campaign group and went to the UN to lobby for a global climate agreement.

After the failure of the 2009 climate negotiations, he became disillusioned with activism. Years later he discovered meditation and realised that the best way to change the world was by changing himself.

He went from being anxious, agitated, distracted and disconnected from his emotions to feeling much more calm, relaxed and happy. His passion comes from sharing what has helped him in a way that’s easily accessible to others.

He is always deepening his practice through retreats, studying Buddhism and a consistent daily practice.

Integrity is central to his work and life and he only teaches practices that he does himself.

The beliefs that shape his work are:

  1. There is innate goodness in everyone.

  2. Everyone can change, if they really want to.

  3. Self-love is the greatest healer.

His proudest achievement is turning his passion into a business, which allows him to have a positive impact on people’s lives every day.
