What is Wellbeing?

What is Wellbeing?

For some, ‘wellbeing’ and ‘wellness ‘mean the same thing. In actual fact, ‘wellness’ and ‘wellbeing’ have distinct meanings. According to the National Wellness Institute in the US, ‘Wellness’ is defined as “a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential”.

Whereas ‘Wellbeing’ is thought as, according to the Oxford English Dictionary of being “comfortable, healthy or happy.”

The New Economic Foundation goes further and describes Wellbeing as “how people feel and function, both on a personal and social level, and how they evaluate their lives as a whole.” When you look at ‘Wellbeing’ in this context, it permeates into almost all areas of our busy City lives.

Although many Wellness Practices contribute to “Wellbeing”, having a Wellbeing practice includes little and simple things in life that contribute to better living: Feeling on top of the world and ready to take on whatever challenges life throws at you.

They could be as simple has having a regular, and developed sleep routine, ensuring that you are house is clean and clear. It could be your balanced, plant-based diet, the herbal teas or alcohol beverages that you drink, it is anything that contributes to a healthy state of body and mind.

Perhaps you need some help from a professional coach who can assist you on your path to a better life? Oh, did I mean a healthy relationship with your smartphone? Yup, that’s ‘Wellbeing’ practice too.
