1. What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic, non-intrusive approach to preventative and curative medicine by working with the body’s muscular-skeletal system in order to promote physical and emotional wellbeing. It works by strengthening, stretching and treating the body’s muscles, joints and spine.  The theory is that if an individual is to maintain optimal health and wellbeing, then all these need to be functioning smoothly together. Osteopathy aims to work holistically with the body.

Osteopathy also aims to treat the body’s lymphatic, nervous and circulatory systems. In short, whilst a client may present a particular issue for treatment, a skilled osteopath will work with the whole body using manual techniques in order to restore health and wellbeing.

2. What are the benefits of Osteopathy?

Osteopathy works with a wide range of conditions and ailments. Neck pain, back pain, twisted joints and ligaments etc.. can all be successfully treated by a skilled Osteopath. Osteopathy works by increasing the mobility of joints, improving blood flow and relieving tension in tired and sore muscles. If we think about the body as one functioning unit, then correcting imbalances in the body may also have a positive effect upon our digestion, as well as our mental well being.
